The good news about Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers for West Ham as double sacking sparks fresh speculation.

David Moyes has found himself under intense pressure at West Ham this season with many fans calling for his head.

The West Ham board have stuck by the Scot while a host of mangers have been linked as potential replacements for many months.

The Scot was was the centre of shocking claims that emerged from a first team whistleblower last week.

The claims essentially stated Hammers players and staff have had enough of Moyes and that there is a toxic atmosphere at West Ham.

Then a report claimed West Ham have decided to part ways with Moyes this summer ‘regardless’ of what happens between now and then.

Fresh speculation after big developments

Given that Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers are two of the names who have been linked with replacing Moyes at West Ham, developments at Chelsea and Leicester were big news for the Hammers on Sunday.

Leicester sacked Rodgers after the Foxes slipped into the relegation zone as a result of West Ham’s win over Southampton.

Chelsea then axed Potter just hours later.

Some West Ham fans who want to see a parting of the ways with Moyes in the summer are concerned that the alleged Hammers managerial targets may now be snapped up by other clubs with two months left of the campaign.

But here is the good news about Potter and Rodgers for West Ham as the double sacking sparks fresh speculation.

The truth is the timing is absolutely ideal. In fact it could not be any better if West Ham are genuinely looking to move in a new direction come the summer.

Both Potter and Rodgers have been through very stressful and intense periods at Chelsea and Leicester respectively.

Potter has even received death threats during a miserable time at Stamford Bridge.

As is almost always the case when a manager gets the sack, they like to take a few months break to recharge and reassess.

For West Ham then the timing could not be any better.

Neither Potter or Rodgers are likely to be considered for the vacant Spurs job.

And you can bet your bottom dollar both men will now take a break from the game until the summer before joining a new club where they have a full pre-season and transfer window.

With so many other clubs having only just fired and hired new managers themselves, the duo are highly unlikely to be lured anywhere else before then.

So as long as West Ham put the groundwork in – if they do intend to bid farewell to Moyes – and let it be known to one or both they are interested, then it could work out perfectly for the east Londoners to make a clean break.

Moyes can hopefully go out with his head held high and West Ham still in the Premier League.

Potter or Rodgers will be well rested and up for a new challenge at a massive club with a decent and more realistic transfer budget after the contrasting cash extremes they experienced at Chelsea and Leicester – which ultimately led to their demise.
