David Moyes made a bullish West Ham claim in his programme notes for Southampton as the Hammers get a vital boost.
It was billed a must win for both teams as West Ham took on survival rivals Southampton in a crunch Premier League clash at the London Stadium.
And West Ham were the ones who emerged with those precious three points in their pockets thanks to Nayef Aguerd’s first half goal.
Every single one of us would have taken any kind of win for the Hammers. So it would be hypocritical to sit here and complain having got it by hook or by crook – and with VAR finally going in West Ham’s favour.

It was by no means a classic and the match probably showed that West Ham and the Saints are where they are for good reason.
The result means David Moyes’ West Ham jump four places up to 14th and effectively put a five-point gap between them and Southampton given the Hammers’ vastly superior goal difference.
Some may remain unconvinced about the team and our hopes of avoiding the drop.
But the manager insists he has always believed.
David Moyes made bullish West Ham claim in his programme notes as Hammers get vital boost
In fact Moyes made a bullish West Ham claim in his programme notes as the Hammers get a vital boost.
The Scot has come under intense pressure of late. And in the build up to West Ham’s six-pointer with Southampton a report claimed he will be sacked this summer regardless of what happens between now and the summer.
But Moyes took to his official West Ham programme notes to make a point he feels has gone ignored by some.

“Our home form in general has been solid this season,” Moyes said in the programme.
“And we are going to need that to continue for the remainder of the campaign.
“Our expectation is to be in a much stronger position at the end of this period.”
That is a bold statement given West Ham were sat in the bottom two when he penned it.
In fairness the players got over the line to go some way to backing up his claim.
The period Moyes is referring to is obviously a hectic April where West Ham play nine games in 27 days including a two-legged European quarter-final.
