West Ham are keen to sign Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Fichajes.net, Real Madrid hitman Mariano Diaz is on the West Ham radar as David Moyes eyes up a move for a new striker.

West Ham actually tried to sign the centre-forward in January 2022, but failed to do so.

The Hammers manager signed Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo in the summer but the Italian has failed to make much of an impact at the London Stadium.

And with Michail Antonio facing an uncertain future with West Ham, the addition of a new forward this summer may well be necessary.

With that in mind, it certainly won’t be outside the realms of possibility that the Hammers will try to sign Diaz in the summer transfer window…

West Ham eyeing move to sign Mariano Diaz

Fichajes reckon that the Hammers are eyeing a move to sign the Dominican Republic international.

I’m not sure this would be the greatest if signings if I’m honest.

The 29-year-old has failed to register either a goal or an assist this season for Madrid, and has played only eight games in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The 29-year-old has struggled since making his £23 million (The Sun) return to the Spanish capital from Lyon in the summer of 2018.

He is far from clinical with just 33 goals and nine assists to his name in 129 career appearances for Real Madrid and Lyon combined (Transfermarkt).

I really feel that West Ham could, and should be doing a lot better than Mariano Diaz.

Hopefully I’m right come the summer and we don’t even try to sign the Dominican forward.
