Mauricio Pochettino rejected a chance to take over as manager of West Ham United in place of the hapless David Moyes.

The West Ham boss is under real pressure in his role at the London Stadium, with his team deeply embroiled in a real relegation battle.

The Hammers are currently sitting in 18th spot in the Premier League table having taken just 20 points from our opening 23 games.

If West Ham lose to Forest, Moyes will surely be sacked, with Rafa Benitez being lined up as a replacement for the Scot.

If Benitez was appointed as Hammers boss, it would surely only be on a short-term deal. He’s the man for the job over the next few months, but certainly isn’t right to lead us through the massive rebuild that we need.

The top man for the job would be Mauricio Pochettino in my opinion. However, there is a very big problem it seems…

Mauricio Pochettino rejects West Ham move

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the ex-Tottenham manager has already rejected the chance to take over from David Moyes at the London Stadium.

The 50-year-old Argentinian has been out of work since getting sacked from Paris Saint-Germain last year.

He is exactly the kind of managerial appointment we should be making – someone who places big trust in young players, deploys a high press with high intensity and oozes energy and passion on the touchline.

It’s clear for everyone to see that Moyes is well past his sell-by date as a Premier League manager. His dated methods and archaic tactics have no place in the modern game, and the sooner we move him on the better.

Mauricio Pochettino would be the dream appointment at West Ham in my opinion. And as unrealistic as it sounds, his wife and son do still live in London, so it’s not completely outside the realms of possibility.

However, it seems as though the 50-year-old is not interested in the Hammers manager’s position. And in truth, I don’t blame him at the moment.

The club are in such a mess and it seems like a lot of work needs to be done to put everything right. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later but as things stand, Pochettino will not be the man leading the rebuild.
