West Ham United are reportedly keen to sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to Manchester Evening News who claim that West Ham boss David Moyes is keen to bring the 29-year-old Manchester United centre-back to the London Stadium.

The Hammers desperately need to add a top-class central defender to our ranks in the summer, with Craig Dawson having left in January and Kurt Zouma constantly succumbing to injuries.

Moyes actually tried to sign the Manchester United defender on loan in January, but he stayed at Old Trafford in the end.

Maguire is currently behind Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the centre-back pecking order at Old Trafford.

So could West Ham really sign him in the summer? It seems as though we’re going to give it our best shot…

West Ham eyeing bold Harry Maguire swoop

Manchester Evening News claim that the Hammers are keen to prise the towering central defender away from Man United in the summer transfer window.

Maguire joined Manchester United from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for around £85 million (The Sun).

He has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford though, and is in need of a move away from the Red Devils in the summer in my opinion.

The ex-Leicester ace is a tremendous centre-back, but unfortunately for him he just doesn’t fit very well into a team that plays a back four and a really high line.

Just look how good he is for England in a slightly deeper block alongside two other centre-backs. He has been an absolute colossus for the Three Lions over the past few years.

Harry Maguire is actually very underrated with the ball at his feet as well and the way that he drives forward up the pitch really is an awesome sight to see.

The 53-capped England international’s teammate Luke Shaw described him as ‘unbelievable’ recently (The Mirror). I agree with the Man United left-back – the 29-year-old is one of the very best around.

I believe that if West Ham stay up and show some real ambition in the summer, bringing Harry Maguire to the London Stadium from Manchester United wouldn’t be completely out of the question.
