Captain Declan Rice is being hawked out for a summer transfer by his dad and agent Sean as West Ham battle against relegation.

That’s according to a new report from website Claret and Hugh overnight.

West Ham captain Rice has been linked with a move to some of the biggest and best clubs across Europe for the last two or three years now.

The latest talk is that Arsenal are eyeing a summer move for the Hammers skipper. Chelsea had previously been reported as being the midfielder’s preferred destination.

But West Ham have always insisted they have never once received a bid for the midfielder.

Earlier this season West Ham co-owner David Sullivan told Hammers News that claims he had talks with Todd Boehly over Rice were “rubbish”.

Regardless he has been widely expected to depart in the summer. Especially after he announced his desire to play regular Champions League football and compete for the top trophies in the game during that England press conference at the World Cup.

West Ham reportedly put a third and final contract offer to Rice in a last attempt to persuade him to stay.

The Hammers were reportedly preparing a whopping £250,000 per week deal to offer Rice – which amounts to over £100m over the course of the contract.

Unfortunately 6foot2 stated the chances of Rice and his dad Sean – who is also his agent – accepting the offer were ‘low’.

Well that certainly seems to be the case.

Because captain Rice is being hawked out for a summer transfer by his dad as West Ham battle relegation.

That’s according to a new report from Claret and Hugh when confirming the club has never received an official bid for the midfielder.

“That is not the case at all (that a deal has been agreed with Arsenal) and no club will come in now until the summer,” Claret and Hugh state.

“Although we understand that his agent/father Sean has been in touch with a number of clubs but that none have reacted.”

The report then quotes a top source as saying: “Time will tell and if anything is going to happen that will be in the summer. But there has been nothing so far at any time although we believe his agent is busy talking to clubs.”

Hammers fans have come to accept that Rice will be sold this summer.

But even so, claims his dad is hawking him out to prospective buyers as West Ham are fighting for survival will not sit well with many.

Some West Ham fans were unhappy with Rice after the damaging Brighton defeat – although many look to have got the wrong end of the stick regarding comments he made.

Let’s hope this situation can be handled with class on both sides come the summer. But the only focus until then – from everyone involved – should be on West Ham United staying in the Premier League.
