Rafa Benitez has broken his silence amidst a recent claim that he could take the West Ham United manager’s job.
Current West Ham boss David Moyes is under real pressure at the London Stadium, with his Hammers side currently sitting inside the Premier League relegation zone.

Rafa Benitez is being touted as the man who could take over from Moyes, when the Scot is eventually sacked (The Daily Mail).

And the Spaniard is said to be interested in the Hammers hot-seat.
The 62-year-old has finally spoken about his future in the game…
Rafa Benitez breaks silence amidst strong West Ham links
The former Valencia, Liverpool, Newcastle, Napoli, Chelsea and Everton manager has been out of work since losing his job at Goodison Park in January 2022.
And it seems as though the London Stadium could be his next destination.
When speaking on the BBC Football Daily Podcast, Rafa suggested that he wants a top job before he retires:

“I said to you. I’ve had nearly 20 offers from national teams and countries, but my family say try to stay around, try to stay in England or try to stay in Europe. I’m watching out for Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England to stay as close as possible. I don’t need to go to a second division team or a mid-table team, I don’t need to do that. I don’t need to get money in Qatar or China, I did it because it was the time, but now I want a project where I can compete and improve players.”
Now, the fact that he doesn’t want a mid-table team surely rules West Ham out of the running.
I would have liked Rafa to take over from Moyes up until the end of the season, but I wouldn’t have been too keen on him being given the reins for a long-term project at the London Stadium.
I would love to see the Hammers move for a younger and more progressive manager when Moyes leaves, someone like Will Still, Michael Carrick or Graham Potter.
It seems to be that Rafa Benitez would not be interested in the West Ham job, judging by his comments above. It will be interesting to see whether that is the case though, if Moyes is sacked within the next few weeks.
