West Ham United star Tomas Soucek has provided a possible explanation as to why Said Benrahma has not been starting recently.
Said Benrahma has been demoted to an impact sub by West Ham boss David Moyes this season, after playing a key role for the club last term.

The Hammers winger seemingly has a really hard task on his hands if he is to force his way back into the starting XI.

Lucas Paqueta is now playing out wide on the left and has forged an impressive on-field relationship with Emerson Palmieri.
And Tomas Soucek discussed the understanding that the Brazil and Italy internationals have developed with one another, when speaking to the club’s official website…
Tomas Soucek comments suggest why Said Benrahma has been dropped to the West Ham bench
The 28-year-old midfielder has offered praise for Paqueta and Emerson.
He highlighted how effective the duo have become when operating down the left hand side together, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“Lucas Paquetá and Emerson combine so well and they did so again for your goal, so when the chance arrived, you couldn’t miss! It’s true that these two guys have a great connection with each other and we can see that in the game and particularly in this moment with the goal. They trust each other every time and Emerson, when he passed the ball to me for the goal, it was a lovely pass and I finished it off.”
Soucek can see it, the West Ham fans can see it and David Moyes obviously can as well.
Paqueta and Emerson have developed a truly incredible understanding down the left hand side for the Hammers.
In my opinion, Said Benrahma’s path to the West Ham starting XI has more obstructions than it ever has before.
There’s no way that Moyes will move Paqueta from out wide on the left right now. He has been brilliant for the Hammers in that position recently. But what about if the Brazilian is injured or suspended?
Well even then it’s bad news for the Algerian because Mohammed Kudus will most probably come into the side.
I recently suggested that Benrahma’s time at West Ham could be coming to an end. And with the relationship between Paqueta and Emerson continuing to blossom, I think the 28-year-old could very well be shipped out of the London Stadium sooner rather than later.
