‘Most exciting coach of the last 10 years’ who West Ham want absolutely raves about Leeds

West Ham United managerial target Arne Slot has shared his admiration for Leeds United.

Leeds tried to appoint Arne Slot earlier this season (Leeds Live), and West Ham are the latest club to jump on the bandwagon of trying to prise the 44-year-old away from Feyenoord.

However, with Javi Gracia really struggling at Elland Road, it would be no surprise to see Leeds come back in for Slot at some point.

And the Feyenoord boss has spoken glowingly about the Whites…

West Ham face competition from Leeds for Arne Slot

The 44-year-old would be absolutely perfect for the Hammers as far as I’m concerned.

However, Slot has told Kenneth Perez for ESPN just how much admiration he has for Leeds as a club:

“I think Leeds is a very nice club. The moment in the middle of the season, where you still have so much to play for at Feyenoord, I didn’t think that was a good time to leave for England. Then there is also a huge challenge at Feyenoord. It was also much better from a family point of view to stay here for a while. The Premier League is of course the number one competition in Europe. Although I also follow developments in Italy with great interest. I also think it is very valuable to leave somewhere in a positive way. Giovanni van Bronckhorst, for example, became champion here, but a year later his life no longer looked so nice.

He really is one of the most exciting up and coming managers in the game today.

Slot took over at Feyenoord in the summer of 2021 and has taken the Dutch giants to another level in under two years.

He guided them to a third place finish in his first season at De Kuip. The Dutchman also took his side to the Europa Conference League final last season, only to lose to Roma in the final, but things have got even better since then.

Feyenoord currently sit top of the table, with an eight point lead over second placed Ajax with only five games left to play this season.

Slot deploys an attacking brand of free-flowing football at Feyenoord and I think he’d be the ideal man to usher West Ham into an exciting new era of success.

He predominantly uses a 4-2-3-1 system but also switches up to a 4-3-3 at times. Slot’s managerial style has been likened to Marcelo Bielsa.

The Feyenoord boss likes his full-backs to push high up the pitch with his two centre-back’s splitting and a ‘ball-playing’ goalkeeper essentially becoming a third defender.

Dutch football expert Marcel Van Der Kraan suggested that the Feyenoord boss is the most exciting manager that he has seen over the past 10 years because of his incredibly attacking football (talkSPORT).

Should Leeds stay up and make another move for Arne Slot in the summer, it will be interesting to see whether West Ham are able to beat the West Yorkshire outfit to the punch.
