Kurt Zouma is absolutely finished and West Ham United must try to sell him in the summer.

West Ham signed Kurt Zouma from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 for around £30 million (The Daily Mail).

At the time, it seemed like a really good deal by Hammers boss David Moyes.

However, as time has gone on, it seems like West Ham have signed an absolute dud – and certainly an injury prone one.

Just before the Hammers signed Zouma, David Sullivan actually tried to pull the plug on the deal due to concerns about the 28-year-old’s knees that arose during his medical (The Mirror).

And I think Sullivan was bang on the money…

Kurt Zouma is absolutely finished at West Ham

Ok, so Zouma obviously scored yesterday, but his overall performance was absolutely horrendous.

Jamie Redknapp called the Frenchman out on it as well in the Sky Sports studio during the game.

The 6ft 3in centre-back was partly at fault for Newcastle’s section goal, when he allowed Joelinton to wander through unopposed.

However, it was his overall performance that was most concerning. Zouma has absolutely no pace anymore, and he always moves around awkwardly, obviously because of his knee problems.

The 28-year-old missed six weeks and 10 games for the Hammers last season with knee AND hamstring problems. This term, he has missed 12 matches with the same injuries (Transfermarkt).

Physical reliability is absolutely vital now, considering the speed an intensity of the game in the Premier League, and the sheer volume of matches that teams have to play now.

As good as Zouma has been for West Ham at times, he just isn’t robust enough for the English game in my opinion.

Against Newcastle yesterday, the former Chelsea man failed to register a tackle or an interception not did he win an aerial duel (Who Scored). That’s just not acceptable for a centre-back.

He received a rating of 5.97 from Who Scored and that was with scoring a goal!

Kurt Zouma is under contract with West Ham until the summer of 2025 and he currently earns well over £100k-a-week (Spotrac).

It’s time for Sullivan to move him on in the summer. However, whether Moyes, or whoever is in charge by then, will agree with that notion remains to be seen.
