West Ham United have officially completed a deal to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City for the remainder of the season.

Kalvin Phillips is now a West Ham player until the end of the season, although it is suggested that we have an option to buy the 28-year-old permanently from Manchester City in the summer.

Hammers boss David Moyes will have a really solid central midfield pairing at his disposal now, comprising of Phillips and Edson Alvarez.

Phillips is a sensational addition for West Ham as far as I’m concerned, and ig he remains injury free, I don’t see how we can lose out with this deal.

The England international midfielder is vastly experienced, and he’ll bring a real level of control to our play through the middle of the pitch.

But what does the midfielder himself think about swapping the Etihad for the London Stadium in the January transfer window?

Kalvin Phillips shares exactly why he chose to join West Ham

The 28-year-old spoke to WHUFC.com immediately after confirming his loan switch to the East London side.

The Hammers fans will be absolutely buzzing and it seems like the same can be said for the midfielder.

Phillips shared his excitement after sealing his switch to the London Stadium:

“I’m really pleased to be here,” said the Yorkshireman, who will wear the No11 shirt.

“There’s always been a lot of speculation about me moving to West Ham, so I’m really excited to get going now. There’s so much to look forward to in the second half of the season for the Club and I can’t wait to be part of it. “There’s an unbelievable group here and if I can come in and add the quality that I know I’m capable of, I’m sure we can give the West Ham fans plenty to be excited about between now and the end of the season.”

Things are shaping up really nicely for West Ham right now. I reckon we’re a centre-forward, centre-back and right-back away from making a genuine push for the Champions League places.

Whether Moyes is able to address all of those positions in the January transfer window is doubtful, but he will definitely be able to do it by the summer.

For now though, getting a deal for Kalvin Phillips over the line is a major coup for West Ham, and I reckon we’ll go from strength to strength now during the final four months of the season.
