Jarrod Bowen has spoken out after West Ham suffered relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the 2025/26 season.
Bowen scored one of the Hammers’ three goals in their convincing 3-0 victory over Leeds on Sunday.
However, it was not enough for West Ham to avoid relegation, as Tottenham beat David Moyes’ Everton 1-0.
Many will criticise Bowen’s performances throughout the campaign, but no one can question his commitment to the club.
He shared the heartbreak of West Ham fans around the world in his final interview of the season at the London Stadium.

Jarrod Bowen reacts to West Ham relegation to Championship
After West Ham’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed, Bowen admitted that it had been coming for a while.
The Hammers have been trending in the wrong direction ever since they won the Conference League under Moyes in 2023.
Several years of subpar recruitment and managerial appointments have led to this situation, despite significant contributions from Bowen and others.
The West Ham captain was visibly upset in his post-match interview, yet he still provided a thorough explanation of the club’s issues.
“It hurts, a horrible place to be in football,” Bowen told Sky Sports. “Relegation for a club like this, it hurts. We did enough today, but throughout the season, we haven’t.
“You can pinpoint many things, but when you go out on the pitch, it’s about players turning up week in and week out. Last season, we managed to wriggle out of it, but we haven’t this time; we have been there all season.
Relegation confirmed – where do West Ham go from here?
“It’s not something that has just happened. The last couple of seasons, we have been below the standards. We haven’t done enough consistently to pick up the points.
“We have not been good enough, and we have paid the biggest price. We thought maybe it was a one-off season in Europe; we finished 14th, but no one remembers, as we won a trophy.
“We didn’t do enough on the pitch to grind out results. We have been leading games and dropping points; in this league, you have to fight and earn every point.”
One of West Ham’s top priorities over the summer will be keeping Bowen amid interest from many Premier League clubs.
The 29-year-old is unlikely to hand in a transfer request, but he might be interested in leaving if an exciting opportunity arises.
