West Ham’s 3-0 victory against Leeds meant they would have avoided relegation if only Everton had beaten Tottenham.
It was always going to be difficult for Everton to pull off an upset against a team fighting for Premier League survival.
The Toffees’ task was made more complicated by the fact that they could no longer qualify for European competition.
Every West Ham supporter would have had concerns about Moyes’ side lacking motivation, and that is how it panned out.
Despite Moyes wanting to keep his former club in the Premier League, the Everton players failed to show anything.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville criticised the away team’s performance throughout the game on commentary.
“Everton haven’t got going at all. It looks like some of the Everton players are on the beach,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

Thomas Tuchel has made several SHOCKING decisions!
“Everton have been awful in the first half, just what Tottenham needed… David Moyes has got to change it. There’s not enough happening.”
Later in the game, Neville suggested that Tottenham had no reason to feel nervous about an Everton comeback.
“But there is no reason for panic,” he added. “Tottenham are in control. We haven’t seen anything from Everton yet. They have not had a shot on target.”
West Ham can only blame themselves for being in the bottom three, but they would have expected more from Everton.
It was a dreadful display from Moyes’ side that ultimately sent the Hammers into the Championship next season.
