David Moyes has made a vow to former club West Ham for Everton’s crunch clash with Spurs after a plea from Tomas Soucek – and it’s just what the Hammers want to hear.

In just over 48 hours, the relegation fate of West Ham and Tottenham will be decided – and David Moyes has a huge role to play.

The Hammers must beat Leeds at the London Stadium on Sunday and hope Moyes can lead his Everton side to victory at Spurs.

Should the Toffees do West Ham the ultimate favour at Tottenham – and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side take care of their own business against Leeds – it will be the third time Moyes has helped keep the club in the Premier League.

The worry for West Ham – and good news for Spurs – is that Everton are on a poor run of form.

That has left Moyes’ boys with nothing to play for on the final day after the incentive of European football was taken away by Everton’s dismal 3-1 defeat to Sunderland last time out.

There have also been question marks over whether Moyes will be truly motivated for the game, given relegation for the Irons would only serve to enhance the remarkable job he did in east London.

Jamie Redknapp has reassured the Hammers about Moyes’ approach at Spurs with his former club’s fate partly in his hands.

Now the man himself has spoken.

And Moyes has made a West Ham vow for the Spurs clash after a plea from Tomas Soucek.

The Scot has named big Czech midfielder Soucek as one of the best signings of his managerial career.

Moyes even credited West Ham and singled out the likes of Soucek for his OBE.

Soucek has reiterated his love for Moyes and says the pair still share a special relationship.

The Hammers ace has said he hopes his old boss can do them a huge favour at Spurs and plans to say a big thank you if he manages it.

“Everyone knows how good a relationship I have with him and they know that we need them!” Soucek told West Ham’s website.

“The connection between us is unbelievable but, as I said, we have to concentrate on our result, on our three points and I hope that I will message them after the game to say ‘thank you!'”

Moyes has responded to that plea – and the collective one coming from the Hammers faithful – by insisting he wants to keep West Ham in the Premier League.

The Scot admitted he has ‘possibly’ had a few phone calls from those connected with West Ham this week and hopes to pull it off for his former club.

Moyes also insists Everton do have plenty still to play for in the game.

“Look, I’d love to keep West Ham in the league if I can do,” Moyes told the press ahead of facing Tottenham.

“But it’s more important that I get Everton that top half finish and we try and get a few more million pound because of our league position, which is so important as well…

“We’ve got to try and finish as high as we possibly can but yeah, I really do hope that West Ham stay up.”

Despite Moyes’ reassuring pledge, West Ham will be worried by the actions of a key Everton star just days out from the Tottenham game.
