David Moyes has specifically credited West Ham after receiving an OBE in the New Years Honours list but is sad at seeing his good work undone.
West Ham go into 2025 hoping for much better after a dismal 2024.
The Hammers won just 11 Premier League games in the calendar year.
West Ham’s malaise in the second half of last season ultimately saw David Moyes leave the club.
It has at least continued, if not got worse, under Julen Lopetegui.
Especially as the Hammers went out and spent £155m on new players for Lopetegui in the summer.
The Spaniard is on the brink of the sack.
Moyes has been linked with a sensational return to West Ham for a third term.
But that has been ruled out despite claims he’d be open to it.
Many pundits and journalists have been queueing up to tell the Hammers ‘I told you so’ after warning the club should ‘be careful what you wish for’.
Many West Ham fans have justifiably pointed out that just because they wanted Moyes out does not mean they thought Lopetegui was the way forward.

Classy Moyes credits West Ham for OBE
Others have held their hands up and conceded perhaps it was better the devil you know.
Whatever the stance, there is no denying West Ham are falling way below expectations this season.
Moyes recently criticised West Ham’s new structure with Tim Steidten has technical director.
The German is also now under pressure to keep his job according to fresh reports ahead of the January transfer window.
Moyes refused to give up his ultimate power of veto on transfers to Steidten in new contract talks this time last year.
That is what ultimately resulted in a contract offer being withdrawn.
Despite all that has gone on, Moyes has credited West Ham for his OBE but says he is sad to see his good work being undone.
Moyes was asked whether he was glad to see West Ham struggling after they parted company with him.

Moyes sad to see his good work being undone at West Ham
Quite the contrary as not only does he credit West Ham for his OBE, he is disappointed to see the stability he built lost.
“It’s a strange question – it can sometimes be like that, but I brought in so many of the players there,” he told BBC.
“I’m so loyal to them, from the Czech boys to Jarrod Bowen. So many of them I brought in and I’ve got a great relationship with.
“We had just about got to a period of really good stability at West Ham, so that would be the bit.
“The people who watch football and know will tell you, West Ham have had different difficulties throughout at different times – but I think the last three or four years were really stable.
“Regular in Europe three years in a row, finishing in a decent position in the league. I’m just more disappointed that it’s not quite looking as stable as what it was then.
“Great thanks to all the people at West Ham who helped me get an OBE.
“The players were magnificent and obviously the trophy was special.”
Whatever your feelings on Moyes, that is true class.
