Jacob Steinberg has claimed that West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta could have a big say on whether or not David Moyes gets sacked.
West Ham manager David Moyes is currently without the injured Lucas Paqueta, but Jacob Steinberg reckons that the Brazilian will have a big part to play in the Scot’s future.
Steinberg was incredibly critical of Moyes’s inaction during the January transfer window, and it looks like the Guardian journalist hit the nail on the head at the time.
The Hammers have fallen off a cliff since our last win – a 2-0 victory at the Emirates way back on December 28th.

The fact that we didn’t sign anyone in January is absolutely laughable. In fact, it’s worse than that – it was negligence of the highest order.
And now Moyes’s flaws, as well as the board’s, are coming home to roost…
Lucas Paqueta will have a big say on David Moyes future
Steinberg took to his official X account today to provide an update on Moyes’s current contract situation.
The Guardian journalist also suggested that Lucas Paqueta’s impending return could have a huge bearing on whether the Scot is handed a new deal or not:
One thing’s for sure, West Ham need Paqueta back as soon as possible – we are quite simply not the same without him.
Than in itself is a huge concern though. The fact that our squad is in such a state that we’re so reliant on one player just simply isn’t on.
David Moyes will obviously be desperate to get Lucas Paqueta back and playing as soon as possible. The 26-year-old is our talisman and he makes us tick.
The Brazilian may well go on to save the Scot’s job at the London Stadium. However, if he returns to action and fails to inspire the team to a consistent run of positives results, Moyes may well be out the door sooner rather than later.
