Kalvin Phillips has made a bold statement regarding where he sees West Ham United in the future.
West Ham signed Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City in January, and David Moyes will be delighted to have finally got his man.
The Scot did recently admit that Phillips isn’t quite match fit just yet, but when the 28-year-old is up to speed he’ll be a huge player for us, I have no doubts about that.
The Hammers have been on an awful run of form recently, but we have a chance to turn things around against Arsenal this weekend.
A win would solidify our place back inside the top seven and who knows, maybe a top six finish will be achievable for us this season.
That’s certainly what Phillips thinks…

Kalvin Phillips says what West Ham fans are desperate to hear
The 28-year-old midfielder has been speaking to WHUFC.com about his hopes for the Hammers this season and beyond.
Phillips said:
“I think we’re climbing towards the Champions League spots as a Club. I think, with the pedigree of the players that we have got and how well we’ve been performing, we’re not going to drop below what they’ve done in the first half of the season. When everyone is fit, this team can cause anyone real problems.”
Now, I’m not saying Moyes wouldn’t want us to finish inside the top four, because he surely would. However, I genuinely don’t think the Scot sees us as a Champions League team.
Whenever we’re flying high in the league, Moyes always seems to play down our hopes of a top six finish, let alone a top four one, by suggesting that we’re ‘punching above our weight’.
He most recently suggested this when speaking to the media after our draw with Bournemouth (WHUFC.com). It’s almost like he downplays our chances of success when we’re on a good run of form because he doesn’t want the pressure that accompanies a top four push.
The Champions League comments from Kalvin Phillips may well have been music to the West Ham fans’ ears, but Moyes might not be on the same page.
