Said Benrahma takes clear dig at David Moyes, and it was a real cheap shot

West Ham United manager David Moyes allowed Said Benrahma to leave the club on transfer deadline day last week.

Said Benrahma found the going tough at West Ham under David Moyes, and never fully established himself really.

The Hammers fans certainly didn’t get to see the best of the 28-year-old during his time at the London Stadium.

Moyes actually could have done with keeping Benrahma considering how light we are in the attacking department, but the Algeria international apparently forced through his exit because he was so desperate to leave.

The former Brentford man always played like he had shackles tied around his ankles at West Ham. He was never given the true freedom a player like him needs to flourish under Moyes.

And now he has taken a cheap shot at Moyes it seems…

Said Benrahma takes clear dig at David Moyes

The winger has been speaking to Lyon’s official website about his move from the Premier League to Ligue 1.

Benrahma highlighted how intense the training is at Lyon, in a clear swipe at Moyes:

“The infrastructure is magnificent here. There are not many clubs that have such facilities, there is everything to work well. Training went very well, we worked hard, but we worked in a very good mood and in a good atmosphere. It’s been a long time since I trained with the intensity of training at OL. It’s impressive, and I can’t wait to play on the field.”

Let’s remember something very important here – Benrahma is still technically owned by West Ham.

Lyon have the option to sign the Algerian permanently in the summer for around £13 million (The Athletic).

For Said Benrahma to have taken such a cheap shot at West Ham just wasn’t on really, or maybe…was the 28-year-old taking a swipe at Moyes?

If so, then I can kind of understand that – the Scot has treated him really badly at times over the past few years. Moyes more often than not took Benrahma off when other players were performing a lot worse than him.

He also openly criticised the winger on multiple occasions when speaking to the press for his poor decision making inside the final third.

Even so, I’m still not convinced Benny should be bad mouthing the club, I’m really not.

Nobody can blame Said Benrahma for leaving West Ham – he absolutely had to in the end in order to salvage his career. However, it would be nice if he was a tad more respectful towards us when speaking to the press out in France.
