Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers are the top two managerial targets for West Ham United this summer, as David Moyes faces the sack.
David Moyes will surely be moved on by the West Ham owners at the end of the season and according to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers are the two main candidates to replace the Scot.
Moyes has done a terrible job in charge of the Hammers this season, certainly in the Premier League.
In fact, West Ham’s form in Europe is probably the only reason why the Scot is still in a job at the London Stadium.
And it seems as though whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Moyes will be replaced by a younger, more forward-thinking manager in the summer…
West Ham eyeing Rodgers and Potter to replace Moyes
However, the good news is that both managers are being lined up for the summer, according to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg.
The English and Northern Irish managers are the Hammers’ top two targets to replace Moyes.
I would absolutely love either of them to take over from he Scot at the London Stadium.
Potter worked miracles at Brighton and in fairness to him, he did a decent job at Chelsea until Todd Boehly started spending money like it was going out of fashion on players the manager hasn’t even asked for. Either way, he wasn’t given the time for his footballing philosophy to manifest into results on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Rodgers has had sustained success for years with Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City. He is well-renowned for setting up his teams on the front foot – something that we have been deprived of at West Ham with Moyes at the helm.
Both managers deploy an attacking brand of free-flowing football and place an emphasis on ball retention – something that we have been starved of over the past three-and-a-half years under Moyes.
Potter and Rodgers, 50 and 47 respectively, would both be my top choices to replace Moyes at West Ham. And it seems as though the Hammers board are thinking along similar lines.
