One player in particular needs to force a move away from West Ham United in the January transfer window.

The upcoming January transfer window will be a very important one indeed for West Ham, and there should be some outgoings as well as incomings.

David Moyes is currently under huge pressure in his role as Hammers boss, and he is apparently closer to being sacked than he ever has been before.

The main reason that the pressure is mounting on the Scot is the poor run of form that we’re currently in the midst of.

However, there are other concerns as well, including the turgid playing style that he deploys and his poor in-game management.

In addition to all of those things though, Moyes’s treatment of certain players this season has raised some eyebrows, none more so than that of Maxwel Cornet

Hammer with just 708 minutes action in 14 months needs to force move away from West Ham in the January transfer window

The 27-year-old winger joined the Hammers from Burnley for £17.5 million in the summer of 2022 (Sky Sports).

However, the Ivory Coast international has been forced to endure an absolute nightmare spell in East London.

Since joining West Ham, he has played just 708 minutes of football in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Sure, he was out injured from October 2022 to March 2023, but still, that’s a really poor return. And Moyes’s complete reluctance to even give him 20 or 30 minutes here and there this season has been truly baffling.

How can the Ivorian be expected to find any kind of rhythm when Moyes has given him just 88 minutes of action in all competitions this season? I’ll give you a clue, he can’t…it’s impossible.

Maxwel Cornet has pace to burn and plays with a real kind of directness that could make a real difference for this West Ham team, if Moyes motivated him and made him feel loved.

We all know what the 27-year-old can offer – he proved his class with numerous thrilling displays for Lyon and Burnley before he joined the Hammers.

As the Scot has done with so many other players before him though, he’s just ostracised him and made him feel totally unwanted.

If I were Cornet, I would be pushing to leave West Ham in the January transfer window, there are no two ways about that. It’s time for the Ivorian and the Hammers to go their separate ways.
