West Ham fans might just be a little annoyed with Gianluca Scamacca this morning.

That’s according to SiAmoLaRoma who claim that West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is recovering from his knee operation out in Italy.

The Italian is being heavily linked with a move to his homeland this summer, with the likes of Juventus being linked with signing him.

David Moyes brought the 24-year-old to the London Stadium from Sassuolo for around £30 million in the summer of 2022 (The Independent).

However, he has really struggled to fit into the Scot’s setup at the London Stadium. And a swift exit could well be on the cards for the ex-Sassuolo hitman this summer…

Gianluca Scamacca will clearly leave West Ham after what he was spotted doing on Thursday

In my opinion, the fact that the 24-year-old chose to go and watch Roma in action against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League proves that he really isn’t interested in the Hammers – a joke really considering how much we’re paying for him.

Now we all know that the Italian underwent knee surgery. And he has clearly been given permission to recover in his homeland.

However, I do feel like Scamacca going to watch his boyhood club play a European semi-final rather than watching the club that pays his wages really is a bad look.

If he couldn’t travel back to England because of his knee, surely he should have been watching the West Ham game on television.

Both matches kicked off at 8pm after all, so the fact that Gianluca Scamacca wasn’t even watching West Ham beat AZ Alkmaar on TV really does grate on me.

I’m sure that David Moyes and the Hammers owners will be absolutely fuming when they find out.

And I would not be surprised one little bit if the Italian is sold back to an Italian club in the summer transfer window, if he fully heals from his knee operation of course.
