West Ham and Nottingham Forest are the only two clubs inside the bottom half of the Premier League table who have the same manager now as they had at the start of the campaign.

And as things stand, it must be said that the Hammers owners got it right not to part ways with Moyes, despite calls for the Scot to be sacked from fans and pundits alike…

Gary Lineker posts tweet about David Moyes and West Ham

The well-renowned football pundit believes that the Hammers made the correct call by keeping Moyes in charge, when the pressure was building on them to do the opposite.

Lineker took to Twitter after West Ham beat Manchester United 1-0 last night, and praised the club’s owners for having faith in their manager:

Lineker is right in one aspect – not sacking Moyes was clearly the right call. Whilst a new manager could have come in and kept us up, there is no guarantee that that would have been the case.

However, to say that we’re reaping the rewards is a bit strong. West Ham have been terrible on the whole for the past 18 months. And only a Europa Conference League win would make this season a memorable one.

Gary Lineker thinks West Ham made the right call by not sacking David Moyes, but in truth, the proof will be in the pudding. There are Hammers fans who will defend Moyes to the death because of what he’s done for the club over the past three years.

And there are others who want him gone no matter what happens between now and the end of the season. What lies ahead in future for the Scot is far from certain as things stand.

Let’s wait and see what situation we’re in come June.
