Lucas Paqueta has commented on how the West Ham United players are beginning to gel together as a team.

And the Brazilian’s remarks on the team should be absolute music to the West Ham fans’ ears.

David Moyes brought eight new players to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window, including Alphonse Areola who spent the previous season on loan with the Hammers.

However, nobody could have predicted just how much West Ham would struggle in the Premier League this season.

The Hammers are currently sitting in 16th spot in the Premier League table. And despite Saturday’s win over Nottingham Forest, Moyes is still under intense pressure.

However, things are definitely looking up, and the performance of Lucas Paqueta against Forest gave everyone involved with West Ham cause for optimism…

Lucas Paqueta makes claim that will delight West Ham fans

The Brazilian has been speaking to the club’s official website in the aftermath of our win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

And Paqueta suggested that the new signings from the summer are all beginning to gel together now:

“The team made a lot of signings, and that makes it a bit difficult to get that understanding, but I think we are on the right track this year. We are on a better wavelength, getting to know each other better, getting the ball on the floor and playing.”

That really is great to hear from Paqueta.

And it was clear to see that things were starting to click more on the pitch against Forest.

In my opinion though, that was more due to the fact that Moyes finally set up his team on the front foot. The players began the game with the mentality that they had to win the game rather than sit back and settle for a point from the contest.

Lucas Paqueta needs to be playing in an attacking team that likes to play on the the front foot, if he is to flourish for West Ham.

The signs from Saturday were certainly encouraging that the Brazilian and his teammates are beginning to gel together as a unit.

However, the onus is on Moyes to stick with the more attacking setup that yielded such rich rewards against Forest.
