West Ham United are reportedly eyeing a cheap deal for ex Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in the summer.
That’s according to a report from The Sun who claim that the 36-year-old AC Milan striker actually wants to move back to London this summer, having left Chelsea back in 2021.

And West Ham are allegedly one of the potential destinations for Giroud, alongside the likes of Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brentford.

Hammers boss David Moyes has three forwards at his disposal for the first time since he returned to the London Stadium in 2019, if you include Michail Antonio as a striker of course!
So signing another striker in the summer would be somewhat of a strange move unless he either sells one of our current forwards, or brings in a young attacker with real potential.
However, it seems like Moyes is actually on the hunt for some experience…
West Ham eye shock Olivier Giroud swoop
The Sun claim that the proven goalscorer is on the look-out for a Premier League return and is keen to move back to London, with West Ham one of there potential destinations for the France international.
Milan signed Giroud from Chelsea for a bargain £1.7 million deal 18 months ago (Eurosport).
The 36-year-old has really impressed with the Serie A giants, with 25 goals and 10 assists in 69 games. His career record of 315 goals in 775 games makes for pretty good reading as well (Transfermarkt).

Giroud has proven over the past decade that he is a top tier centre-forward. He wouldn’t have got 120 caps for France and tucked away a World Cup winner’s medal if he wasn’t.
My issue is the fact that he will be 37 in September. He has been playing in a slower paced league for the past year and a half and there must be huge questions marks regarding whether he would be able to handle the pace of the Premier League at this stage of his career.
I just don’t feel like West Ham necessarily need Olivier Giroud. We have a tall, powerful striker already in the form of Gianluca Scamacca.
And I believe that if Moyes wants to sign a striker in the summer, he should be targeting a young, up and coming forward with a high ceiling. The Scot has repeatedly suggested that he wants to implement the ‘Red Bull’ model at the London Stadium after all!
