One of our most talented teenagers has been spotted training with the West Ham United first-team today.
West Ham have a plethora of talented young stars currently amongst our ranks, and David Moyes is certainly not averse to letting them join in first-team training.
The Hammers under-21s and under-18s are packed full of elite young stars who all have huge futures in the game.
One of those is Patrick Kelly who has grown and developed into a serious talent since moving to the London Stadium 18 months ago.
Kelly, 19, joined West Ham from Coleraine in 2022 for a nominal fee, and he admitted that fellow Northern Irishman Callum Marshall and Michael Forbes really sold a move to East London to him.
Now he’s signed on the dotted line for another two-and-a-half years.
Hammers Sporting Director and club legend Mark Noble absolutely raved about the talented teenage midfielder, when speaking to WHUFC.com:
“Since signing for the Club in 2022, Patrick has embodied the Academy’s core values of hard work, determination, and humility. He has settled in really well and that has shown through his performances on the pitch, where he has been a key part of the Under-18s success last season and carried that into Under-21 level this year. This new contract is a sign of the Club’s faith and belief in Patrick, but also a challenge and an incentive for him to continue his progression and prove that he can go up another level higher.”
Moyes obviously thinks very highly of him as well…

Kelly is clearly making huge strides at the club.
He was pictured training with the first-team today on photos captured on the West Ham website (pictures number 5 and 8).
It’s so encouraging to see West Ham youngsters like Patrick Kelly being included in first-team training. The next step for him now will be to get some competitive minutes for the senior side.
The future really is very bright for the Hammers, and I am fascinated to see how all of our young stars continue to develop and improve over the course of the next few years.
