Jeff Stelling has just served up a truly bizarre defence of West Ham United manager David Moyes.
West Ham boss David Moyes is under real pressure right now, but Jeff Stelling has gone into bat for the Scot.
It’s not the first time he’s done it either, and he recently suggested that the West Ham fans have lost our grip on reality.
Moyes needs all the support he can get right now. His back really is to the wall, and the owners are apparently very unhappy with the standard of football being served up by the Scot.
The West Ham fans have become tired of his dour, negative and almost defeatist approach to games. I certainly want a change now, as do the majority of Hammers fans I would say.
I’m desperate to see a more exciting brand of football be delivered at West Ham – something that Stelling doesn’t think is achievable…

Jeff Stelling serves up clueless West Ham verdict
The talkSPORT host was debating with a caller who suggested that he wants both entertaining football AND success today.
He responded when it was put to him that we’ve now dropped down to ninth place in the table:
“What a catastrophe. You’re a West Ham fan, where do you want to be? What would you rather have? Would you rather have your side playing free-flowing, fluid football and struggling for survival in the Premier League, or be where you are now: top half of the table, still in Europe, you’re European winners.”
Unsurprisingly, Stelling didn’t have an answer when pushed on why the two things have to be mutually exclusive?
The argument that you can have one or the other really irritates me. Why can’t you have attractive football AND get good results? The best teams in the world do it, as well as the likes of Brighton, Aston Villa, Newcastle and dare I say it, Tottenham.
It’s such a cop out to suggest that we would struggle for results if Moyes tried to implement a more attractive brand of football.
I believe that the 60-year-old Scot actually isn’t capable of deploying an exciting brand of easy-on-the-eye football.
Jeff Stelling was badly misguided when suggesting that we should all be grateful for what David Moyes is doing at West Ham right now. We are allowed to demand more and dream of our club making genuine progress…it’s not against the law Jeff old boy.
