David Moyes dropped biggest hint yet he’s fighting for new contract with 1 selection decision vs Forest

David Moyes made it very clear today that he knows he’s fighting tooth and nail for a new West Ham United contract.

West Ham manager David Moyes is really feeling the heat right now, and the board are said to be seriously unimpressed after last weekend’s 6-0 home defeat to Arsenal.

The Hammers are currently in the midst of a woeful run of form that has seen us go seven weeks without a win.

It’s such a shame that we’ve fallen off so badly, especially considering the strong position we were in at the end of December.

The onus is very much now on Moyes to mix things up and get us firing again, and I believe that one specific selection decision he made today for our clash with Nottingham Forest proves that he knows his hopes of a new contract are very much on the line…

David Moyes dropped biggest hint yet he’s fighting for new contract

It goes without saying that one of Moyes’s favourite players is Tomas Soucek.

The Scot starts the 28-year-old week in, week out without fail, in spite of his poor form…apart from today!

There is absolutely no way, in my mind at least, that Moyes would drop the big Czech Republic international if he knew he was guaranteed a new deal at the end of the season.

This team selection from Moyes this afternoon was 100 per cent picked to prove to the owners that he’s capable of lining up more offensively.

Soucek should have been dropped a long time ago now – there is no way that he should have been even close to the starting XI.

I have never seen a Premier League midfielder so uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. Sure, he’s great in the air, especially when defending set-pieces, but that is literally all he offers.

The former Slavia Prague man slows us down so much in transition, and makes it almost impossible for us to play direct, counter-attacking football.

Moyes is just obsessed with the aerial defensive solidarity that Soucek brings unfortunately though, and had he already signed a new long-term contract, I fully believe that the 28-year-old would have started the game against Nottingham Forest today.
