David Moyes was asked a bizarre opening question in his post match press conference after the West Ham draw in Gent.
West Ham threw away a 1-0 lead against Belgian side Gent to draw 1-1 in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final.
If David Moyes was looking for an improved performance from his side after unconvincing wins over Fulham and Southampton either side of a 5-1 home defeat to Newcastle last week, he didn’t get it.
After a decent start, the Hammers were poor throughout in Belgium and did not deserve to win the game.
Moyes himself said he was not happy with the performance in his interview on BT Sport straight after the game.

The display will have done little to sway opinion among a growing number of West Ham fans regarding Moyes’ future at the club.
And it comes amid an increasingly strained relationship between the two parties with a ‘Moyes Out’ banner raised in the away end at Fulham last time out and supporters jeering the manager, who stared them down as he left the pitch.
There were a host of poor performances from certain West Ham players on the night.
And there was no lack of incident too with numerous VAR interventions.
Given that background, the fact the tie has been left very much in the balance and with league leaders Arsenal up next on Sunday as West Ham battle for Premier League survival, one would think there were plenty of burning issues to discuss with Moyes when he sat down with the media after the match in Belgium.
But Moyes was asked a bizarre opening question in his post match press conference after the West Ham draw in Gent.
And if it was an attempt to be chummy or charming or to disarm the Scot, then it did not work because even Moyes seemed keen to move the conversation straight back to more important matters.

David Moyes was asked bizarre opening question in post match press conference after West Ham draw in Gent
“Did your family enjoy that game?” Moyes was asked by one of the reporters privileged to have the opportunity to grill the Hammers boss in press conferences.
Moyes’ family attend most games – especially in Europe – and that fact had been touched on in his pre-match press conference.
But of all the questions you could ask the manager when you get your chance to probe or pick his brains, the reporter comes up with that?
The West Ham manager’s pretty banal response and instant switch back to the game itself was all the bizarre question deserved.
“I don’t know if they did or not,” Moyes replied, as quoted on Football.London.
“They always enjoy going to football games. It is in the family, we love it and they would have been glad to be here tonight, but overall it was a really tough game, a really physical game. Gent were very strong first and second balls and made it difficult for us.”
Judging by his answer Moyes didn’t even care whether his family enjoyed the game at that moment, he had more pressing things on his mind and rightly so.
And if the manager isn’t particularly interested in whether his family enjoyed the game then why would West Ham fans care either?
