A huge West Ham transfer chance has become clear after an exciting official statement from our rivals about their star player.

If this season has proved one thing it is that West Ham must considerably strengthen the team again come the summer window.

Particularly with the likes of captain Declan Rice expected to leave and the future of players such as Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio uncertain.

West Ham still have work to do to secure their Premier League status.

But two wins in a week have given the Hammers a massive boost in that regard as attentions now turn to another European quarter-final.

One player stuck in West Ham’s mind after fiery Frankfurt clashes

It was around this time last year West Ham knew victory over Lyon could set up a Europa League semi-final with Eintracht Frankfurt.

West Ham fans know all too well what happened next as a fiery semi fell the way of the Germans, who went on to win the competition.

The way Frankfurt’s fans behaved, culminating in that pitch invasion and the spoof ICF banners goading West Ham in the second leg, has given birth to a real dislike between the clubs.

One player who has stuck in the minds of West Ham ever since, though, has been classy Japan midfielder Daichi Kamada.

It is fair to say Kamada was the star player in that semi-final clash.

So much so West Ham have been credited with a keen interest in Kamada ever since.

Earlier this week Hammers News reported claims from Germany that Frankfurt have given up hope of getting Kamada, who is out of contract in the summer, signed up to a new deal.

Now a huge West Ham transfer chance has become clear after an exciting official statement from our rivals about their star player.

In an official announcement last night, Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche confirmed that West Ham target Kamada will be available as a free agent this summer.

“Daichi Kamada has developed into a very good Bundesliga player at Eintracht Frankfurt in recent years and had his share in the sporting development of the club – with the peak of the Europa League victory last year,” Krosche said.

“We would have liked to see Daichi at Eintracht in the future, but the player’s interests did not go hand in hand.

“We thank him for his commitment to Eintracht and wish him all the best for the future.”

This season the 26-year-old has played 38 times for Frankfurt scoring 13 and assisting five.

The Japan international has played 170 times for Frankfurt during his five-year spell at the club.

West Ham fans will now be hoping they see him back at the London Stadium next season – this time wearing the claret and blue.

But the Hammers allegedly face competition from the likes of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
