Spurs want to beat West Ham to a star who terrorised them both but he’s exactly what David Moyes needs in January.

Fans of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham would have had unique insight into one of the stars of the World Cup during Japan matches.

Daichi Kamada may not be a household name across Europe but West Ham and Spurs know him only too well.

The Eintracht Franfurt is a silky skilled and elegant midfielder who tore West Ham apart over the two legs of their Europa League semi-final defeat at the end of last season.

Kamada was one of Japan’s star men during their brilliant World Cup displays beating the likes of Germany and Spain before bowing out on penalties to Croatia in the last 16.

West Ham fans will remember he shone against them, particularly at the London Stadium, with his clever one and two-touch play.

Kamada was a constant thorn in Tottenham’s side too when they faced Frankfurt in the Champions League this season.

Spurs drew 0-0 and won 3-2 against the Germans at home, a game in which Kamada pulled the strings and gave Frankfurt the lead.

Back in the summer it was reported that West Ham and David Moyes were so impressed they wanted to sign Kamada (This Is Futbol).

Now Spurs want to beat West Ham to the star who terrorised them both but he’s exactly what Moyes needs.

German newspaper Bild report that Tottenham have Kamada on their list for a possible transfer.

This situation is said to be a source of major concern for Frankfurt, given that Kamada is out of contract at the end of the season.

It means Spurs or West Ham could pick the Japan star up for a relative bargain in January.

Although Antonio Conte might have the upper hand if Kamada wants to continue to play Champions League football.

He would however likely get more guaranteed game time at West Ham, who are favourites to win the Europa Conference League but are struggling in the Premier League this season.

West Ham must fight Spurs all the way for Kamada as he really is just what the Hammers are missing.

Sky Sports pundit Louis Saha recently implored Moyes to get more offensive minded, skilful players in his team if West Ham are going to get their season back on track.

Kamada could link up so well with the likes of Lucas Paqueta and striker Gianluca Scamacca – who has been starved of service since arriving in east London.
