David Moyes spoke to the media after West Ham United’s crushing 6-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League this afternoon.
West Ham manager David Moyes is now under real pressure after the shocking display and result against Arsenal today.
The Hammers have not won a game since December 28th – ironically our 2-0 victory against the Gunners at the Emirates.
Moyes was dangerously close to getting sacked last season in April, and judgement day may well not be too far away again after today’s result.
The Scot has angered some sections of the West Ham fanbase this season, with his draconian approach to games and the way in which he continually plays down expectations.
But what on earth would Moyes have thought about today’s performance from the boys? Well, here’s his instant reaction…

David Moyes reacts to shocking 6-0 defeat to Arsenal
The Scot addressed the media after the Hammers’ absolutely embarrassing display against the Gunners this afternoon.
And the Scot suggested that his side quite simply weren’t good enough today, when speaking to Sky Sports (February 11th, 4:29pm):
“It’s up there with one of my most disappointing days in charge of West Ham. It’s not been like my teams in the past or any teams here at West Ham. I’ll take time look at it, see if I can fix it. I take responsibility but the players need to take responsibility as well. If you’re not tackling, not winning headers etc, all those things are part of your job. Arsenal were very good today, we weren’t good.”
Moyes then responded when asked if he understood so many fans leaving the London Stadium at half-time:
“I’m a football supporter so I understand that totally.”
Here’s the thing – I think Moyes needs to shoulder the majority of the blame for that result today.
Obviously the players we really, really poor, but Moyes allowed the result to manifest by giving Arsenal way too much repsect.
We’ve already beaten them twice this season for goodness sake! His pre-game rhetoric already gave the Hammers players a ready-made excuse not to turn up.
Arsenal were way too good for us today and thoroughly deserved their 6-0 win, but David Moyes should have set his team up far better than he did. For starters, the fact that he made no changes from the defeat to Manchester United was utterly bizarre, and he now needs to take a long hard look at himself.
