David Moyes came within just 90 minutes of being sacked as West Ham United manager last season.
West Ham won our first major trophy since 1980 last season and that was obviously incredible to witness, but David Moyes oversaw a horrendous Premier League campaign.
At one point it really looked like the Hammers would get relegated, and what a disaster that would have been considering the players Moyes had at his disposal.
In April, West Ham headed to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham in what was a must-win game. Somehow, we left west London with all three points in spite of an abysmal performance.
An own goal ensured that the Hammers won the game 1-0 in the end, and had that not happened, things would have turned out very different indeed…

David Moyes was an own goal away from being sacked as West Ham manager
According to a report from The Telegraph, the West Ham fans were just one game away from having a managerial duo of Slaven Bilic and Mark Noble guiding us through to the end of the season.
The Hammers faced Fulham in the Premier League and had we not won that game, David Sullivan allegedly would have parted ways with Moyes.
Now, after we beat Fulham, West Ham went on to secure their Premier League status and as mentioned earlier, lift the Europa Conference League trophy out in Prague.
It really was a huge sliding doors moment out in Prague wasn’t it.
Who knows what would have happened had Bilic and Noble taken over as a management duo in April of last year.
Despite the criticism that David Moyes has received over the past year, had he been sacked 10 months ago, we might be looking at a very different West Ham right now.
Thankfully, the 2022/23 season ended up being our most memorable campaign for 43 years. However, it is worth saying that it is still very much up for debate as to whether or not Moyes is the man to take us on to the next level.
