David Moyes has been put in very awkward situation over West Ham rumours as he faces the press ahead of the Southampton six-pointer.

If anyone is thick-skinned and experienced enough to handle a grilling from the press it is West Ham boss David Moyes.

The Scot has been there, done it and got the t-shirt. And Moyes knows what is coming when he sits down for conference with the media on Friday.

We all know the situation by now, after all we’ve had two weeks to run through every scenario and eventuality in our heads.

West Ham go into the Saints game knowing a win could lift them as high as 13th. But defeat could leave the Hammers bottom.

As always seems to be the way at West Ham, the last two weeks have been eventful despite the fact there has been no action.

Moyes has a target on his back despite consistent backing from the owners.

This week the Scot was was the centre of shocking claims that emerged from a first team whistleblower.

The claims essentially stated the players and staff have had enough of Moyes and that there is a toxic atmosphere at West Ham.

A report from The Daily Mail then claimed Moyes and his staff fear they will be sacked if West Ham lose to Southampton this weekend.

The talk Moyes could be sacked if the Hammers fail against the Saints was swiftly denied by a senior West Ham board source.

But then yesterday a new report stated that West Ham have decided to part ways with Moyes this summer regardless of what happens between now and then.

Moyes has been put in very awkward situation over those West Ham rumours as he faces the press ahead of the Southampton six-pointer.

And there is plenty for the press pack to try and unpick.

They will just be doing their job of course. In fact if they don’t ask the West Ham boss about the claims and talk around the club they wouldn’t be doing their job properly.

It will be extremely awkward for Moyes and the press but the Scot is well able for it.

Whatever is asked and said, though, he just needs to make sure his players start taking their share of the responsibility and do their talking on the pitch this Sunday.
