David Moyes has one selection headache in particular ahead of West Ham United’s clash with Manchester City tomorrow afternoon.

The Hammers players will have to be at their very best if they are to leave the Etihad with a positive result to show for their efforts.

Having said that, the Manchester City players will not be relishing the prospect of playing against us, far from it.

David Moyes will undoubtedly set up his team to be hard to beat.

West Ham are a well-organised, well-drilled outfit. Our defensive performance away at Wolves last weekend will have undoubtedly been a big concern for Moyes and the fans though.

And the Scot surely has to change things for our game away at Man City.

Craig Dawson played against Wolves last weekend.

The 31-year-old has been great for the Hammers since joining from Watford last year.

There are certain games that he just shouldn’t be playing though. Man City away is one of those.

Pep Guardiola’s side will never lump the ball into the box through the air. The fact that City play everything along the ground at very high speeds completely negates Dawson’s main strength.

This is why Issa Diop should start at the Etihad tomorrow.

The 24-year-old is a lot more mobile and faster along the ground than Dawson is.

He is also more comfortable playing as the left-sided centre-back.

Moving Kurt Zouma to the left side of central defence for the Wolves game was a disastrous move and one that cannot be repeated.

The 27-year-old has been exceptional since moving to the London Stadium from Chelsea for around £30 million (BBC) in the summer. He looked well out of sorts at Molineux though.

The Frenchman needs to move back to his accustomed right-sided centre-back position.

And Diop absolutely must start alongside him for the City game.

That’s no slight on Dawson. As mentioned earlier, he’s been very good for us. Tomorrow’s clash with City isn’t suited to him one little bit, however, considering the Premier League champions’ playing style.

It will be incredibly hard for West Ham to pick up a draw or a win against Manchester City. Starting Diop will give us the best chance of doing just that though.
