David Moyes made crazy Emerson Palmieri decision, and then rubbed salt into West Ham ace’s wounds

West Ham United beat Nottingham Forest 4-0 yesterday afternoon, but the decision by David Moyes to leave out Emerson Palmieri was really strange.

That baffling decision from the West Ham manager really caught my eye, and many others as well.

Emerson joined the Hammers from Chelsea in the summer transfer window for around £13 million (The Athletic).

And despite a really slow start to life at the London Stadium, the 28-year-old has now become an important member of the team, with four or five really impressive performances in a row.

Strangely though, Emerson was dropped for yesterday’s clash with Forest…

Emerson Palmieri dropped for West Ham vs Nottingham Forest

The 28-year-old has been in such good form for the Hammers over the past month.

So it was a huge shock to see Ben Johnson starting at left-back yesterday.

Emerson must have been really surprised when he found out that he wouldn’t be starting against Nottingham Forest.

To add insult to injury for the Italy international, when Vladimir Coufal went off injured at half-time, Moyes brought on the hapless Aaron Cresswell in his place.

The 33-year-old is absolutely finished at Premier League level, so what Moyes was thinking with that substitution is anyone’s guess.

Cresswell was shocking yesterday, and Emerson must have been thinking what on earth have I done wrong?

Surely Moyes won’t make the same mistake again. Emerson Palmieri is by far the best left-back we have at West Ham in my opinion.
