David Moyes has doubled down on his pathetically negative approach to setting up his West Ham United team.

And he has completely missed the point yet again, proving that he has no place in modern football management.

West Ham are currently sitting inside the relegation zone in the Premier League table, having taken just 20 points from our opening 23 games.

Now, the reason that the Hammers are in the position that we’re currently in is because of Moyes’s negative, old fashioned way of setting up his team, in my opinion.

The Scot recently suggested that because of his side’s failure to score goals regularly, he has tried to tighten things up even more and make his team harder to beat.

What he’s failing to realise is that that is the exact reason why West Ham aren’t scoring goals consistently! And amazingly, the Hammers boss doubled down on those claims yesterday…

David Moyes makes self-defeating claim about West Ham goalscoring record

The Scot addressed the media yesterday during his pre-match press conference.

And Moyes responded when asked whether his cautious approach to games is preventing West Ham from scoring goals regularly this season, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

“It’s probably got some truth in it. But I also don’t think you would last this long in management if you were only cautious. Were we cautious last year? We have not changed much. I’m not enjoying watching us not score. I’ve got to find a way to say, “If we’re not going to score, then how are we not going to lose?”

Firstly, the reason why we are struggling to score goals is because of his overly cautious approach to games. If he showed a bit more ambition with his team selection and tactics, then we would almost certainly find the back of the net more often.

And secondly, draws will not be good enough to keep West Ham in the Premier League from here on out! If we draw all 15 of our remaining Premier League games we will finish the season on 35 points. Something has to give. we’d be better of winning six games and losing nine.

It just seems like Moyes doesn’t realise that. He’s so obsessed with not losing that it is actually preventing us from achieving what we need most – wins.

West Ham manager David Moyes needs to make a seismic shift in the way that he approaches games. If he doesn’t do that starting today, we could be in serious trouble.
