David Moyes can get fans back onside by starting sensational 18-year-old in Gent vs West Ham Europa Conference League clash.

West Ham travel to Belgium to take on Gent in the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

David Moyes is under huge pressure in his role as Hammers boss at the moment, but a good win in the Conference League to follow up our 1-0 victory against Fulham on Saturday might just signal that the tide is turning for him.

However, the majority of West Ham fans including myself, want Moyes gone at the end of the season, regardless of what he manages to achieve over the next five weeks or so.

That said, there is one thing that the Scot could do to get the fanbase back onside…

Divin Mubama has been in absolutely frightening form for the under-18’s and under-21’s this season, and he has looked more than comfortable when playing for the senior side as well.

Mubama has scored 28 goals in 27 games for the Hammers’ youth teams so far this season (Transfermarkt). That is a truly superb return for the striker.

The 18-year-old has also scored a goal for the senior team in the conference league and is unlucky not to have two to his name after his strike against FCSB at the end of last year was eventually ruled as an own goal.

Moyes recently admitted that the main reason why Mubama doesn’t train regularly with the first-team is because there is so much competition for the central striking role.

In my opinion though, the teenager is the best available centre-forward we have at the club at the moment, with Gianluca Scamacca out injured.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are both well past their best whilst Mubama is just beginning his journey in the game.

Now, Moyes has big problems as far as his relationship with the West Ham fans is concerned. We all know where this will end. Tensions reached boiling point at Fulham on Saturday when the Scot stared down the Hammers fans who unfurled a ‘Moyes out’ banner in the away end.

There is still so much football to be played this season though, and it would be better for everyone concerned if we are all singing from the same hymn sheet.

The best way for David Moyes to get the fans back on side will be to start Mubama for the Gent vs West Ham clash. It’s clear to see that he’s more than good enough to play regularly for us now in my opinion.

There are numerous top clubs allegedly scouting Mubama week in, week out. Moyes absolutely must show players like Mubama that there is a clear path to the first-team.

The talented teenager has everything that we’re currently lacking up front – real pace, a hard work ethic and incredible finishing ability.

The Gent vs West Ham clash is a vital game for Moyes, so he will undoubtedly revert to type with his team selection on Thursday night. I strongly believe that he should mix things up by bringing Mubama into the side though.
