After the Divin Mubama goal last night, David Moyes explained why the 18-year-old doesn’t train with the West Ham United first-team regularly.

The Hammers won the tie 6-0 on aggregate and it’s not very often at this stage of European competition when teams are absolutely dominant like that.

There were plenty of positives on the night – one being the Divin Mubama goal. After harshly having his goal against FCSB at the end of last year taken off of him, the talented teenage hitman would have been elated after he found the back of the net last night.

He really is a special talent, and it’s obvious to see now why Moyes allowed Sonny Perkins to leave. Mubama has been absolutely on fire for the under-21s this season. However, he proved last night how he can make an impact at senior level as well.

So why isn’t he involved with the senior setup more regularly?

After Divin Mubama goal, Moyes makes claim about first-team training

The Hammers boss addressed the media after our 4-0 win over AEK Larnaca in the UEFA Europa Conference League last night.

And Moyes responded when asked if Mubama trains regularly with the West Ham first-team, as quoted by Football.London:

“He’s not done it so much because at the moment, centre forwards, we are pretty full in that area but a period back, he was. We will bring him up when we think he is ready and he is, he does train with us quite a lot but not all the time.”

I really think that the 18-year-old is at a level now where he should be a regular fixture in first-team training.

It’s like the old saying – if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

I strongly believe that Divin Mubama has something special about him, and he offered us a glimpse of his supreme talent with his goal last night.

Let’s hope that we see more and more of the Newham-born striker in a West Ham shirt over the years to come.
