One West Ham United player has become a transfer target late on deadline day for Scottish giants Celtic.

Transfer deadline day is finally upon us, and West Ham are desperately trying to make some more signings before the window closes.

And it seems like Celtic are very much in the same boat.

Julen Lopetegui has worked wonders at the London Stadium this summer, but the West Ham head coach needs to make at least one more top quality signing, if he is to guide us to success on all fronts this season.

The Hammers fans are buzzing with excitement about what the future holds for us, and Lopetegui has insisted that he’s after even more new signings.

However, the Spaniard will have to get rid of some of the fringe players first, before he can even think about bringing in any more new faces.

And one player in particular is now drawing attention from Glasgow giants Celtic…

Whilst Lopetegui is still lining up potential incomings before tonight’s 11pm deadline, there will surely be some outgoings from the London Stadium first and foremost.

The likes of James Ward-Prowse, Kurt Zouma and Maxwel Cornet appear to be on their way out of the club.

And another name has now been added to that list it seems.

According to Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph, Celtic are exploring a deal to sign Hammers midfielder Andy Irving.

If Irving left West Ham to join Celtic, it would be a big shock.

Not because I’d be surprised that the Hammers sold him, but more so because I genuinely don’t think he’s good enough for the Hoops.

Andy Irving’s West Ham dream short lived

Last season, the 24-year-old midfielder suggested that it was his dream to play for West Ham in the Premier League.

That seemed a little far fetched at the time, but Lopetegui gave the Scot plenty of chances to shine during the friendly games this summer.

James Ward-Prowse recently admitted that he has been really impressed by Irving during pre-season.

He actually looked decent at times, and even scored a wonder goal during our win away at Dagenham back in July.

However, if we’re all being honest here, he’s a long way off of the levels required to play Premier League football.

If West Ham manage to sell Andy Irving to Celtic on transfer deadline day, Lopetegui should be in a strong position to make further reinforcements.
