One player could now stay at West Ham United after being heavily linked with an exit on deadline day.

West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Carlos Soler on deadline day, but one or two more players could still be set for an exit.

It has been an incredibly busy day for transfers at the London Stadium so far, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down just yet.

Julen Lopetegui is actually on the verge of overseeing the best transfer window we have ever witnessed at the London Stadium.

However, a few deals still need to happen in order for that to become a reality.

The West Ham manager is clearly still very active in the market on deadline day.

It has been widely reported that the Hammers’ main focus is to shift on some fringe players before the window slams shut.

One of those being tipped to leave could actually now be set to stay in East London though…

According to The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas, Scottish midfielder Andy Irving is now expected to remain at West Ham beyond the end of the transfer window.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a Hammers exit all summer long.

Celtic are apparently interested in signing Andy Irving from West Ham before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

But now it seems like he may well stay at the London Stadium, and I have to admit, I just don’t understand why.

Andy Irving’s West Ham dream short lived

Last season, the 24-year-old midfielder suggested that it was his dream to play for West Ham in the Premier League.

That seemed a little far fetched at the time, but Lopetegui gave the Scot plenty of chances to shine during the friendly games this summer.

James Ward-Prowse recently admitted that he has been really impressed by Irving during pre-season.

He actually looked decent at times, and even scored a wonder goal during our win away at Dagenham back in July.

However, if we’re all being honest here, he’s a long way off of the levels required to play Premier League football.

If West Ham keep hold of Andy Irving beyond the end of deadline day, I will be hugely surprised.
