West Ham are said to be battling it out with Manchester United for the signing of Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi.
The 25-year-old French defender is on the radar of both West Ham United and Manchester United according to a report from The Daily Mail (print edition March 22nd).

Axel Disasi is one of the very best young central defenders on the planet, so it’s no surprise that West Ham and Man United are keen to bring him to the Premier League from Ligue 1.
It is suggested that the Monaco ace will cost around £44 million in the summer transfer window.

And it seems as though the Hammers and the Red Devils will go back in for the three-capped France international before the start of next season…
West Ham and Manchester United want to sign Axel Disasi
David Moyes and Erik ten Hag are clearly both very keen to sign a top quality young centre-back this summer.
But will Disasi end up at the London Stadium or Old Trafford?
It seems as though Man United are ramping up their pursuit of the Monaco star ahead of the summer window, according to The Daily Mail.
That’s obviously bad news for West Ham. If Disasi has a choice between the Hammers and Man United this summer, it’s pretty obvious what the outcome will be.
And that’s a big shame – the Monaco defender would be an exceptional addition for West Ham.
He was part of Didier Deschamps’ France World Cup squad, and impressed for Les Bleus out in Qatar.
Disasi is an absolute powerhouse of a centre-back, and he can play as a right-back as well.
The Frenchman possesses pace in abundance, has composure in possession and is incredibly strong both in the air and on the ground in the tackle.

In 28 Ligue 1 games for Monaco so far this season, Disasi has racked up two goals and three assists. During those outings he has averaged one tackle, 1.6 interceptions, three clearances and 2.5 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).
The France international is a very solid passer of the football as well. In 28 Ligue 1 games for Monaco this term, he has made 51.7 passes on average per match and has recorded an average completion rate of 83.7% (Who Scored).
Disasi has been described as an ‘elite’ talent by The Monaco Tribune. He really is a hugely exciting young talent, and has everything needed to be a big hit in the Premier League. Standing at 6ft 3in and built like a brick wall, the Frenchman should have no problem adjusting to the physical intensity of English football.
The Monaco defender is exactly the type of signing that the Hammers should be making.
However, Manchester United ramping up their interest in Axel Disasi will be a very unwelcome inconvenience for West Ham, that’s for sure.
