The real reason why West Ham boss David Moyes is reportedly so keen to sell Gianluca Scamacca…

Gianluca Scamacca could be moved on by West Ham manager David Moyes in the summer transfer window it seems.

The Italian giants have allegedly already made contact with the agents of the 24-year-old West Ham forward ahead of the summer transfer window.

Moyes brought the Italy international to the London Stadium from Sassuolo for around £30 million last summer. However, he has struggled to establish himself with the Hammers, mostly because he doesn’t suit the Scot’s system one little bit.

That isn’t to say that Scamacca isn’t a top-class striker, because I honestly believe that he is. Moyes would be mad to give up on him so soon wouldn’t he? Or would he? I think there may well be a very good reason why the 60-year-old is seemingly so comfortable with the idea of the 24-year-old hitman leaving the club this summer…

The Hammers have some truly elite young talents coming through the ranks at the London Stadium right now – none more so than Divin Mubama.

The 18-year-old striker was in sensational form for the under-18s and the under-21s this season just gone, with 30 goals in 33 games to his name (Transfermarkt).

He scored a goal for the senior side in the Europa Conference League as well, and should really have had two if we’re being honest, only for UEFA to award his strike against FCSB back in November as an own goal.

Moyes actually spoke recently about how highly he rates the talented East London-born teenager.

Let’s face it, Mubama’s skill-set is far more suited to a Moyes system than Scamacca’s is. The 18-year-old is always up for the physical battle, is great at running the channels and has pace and power in abundance. He also possesses terrific movement.

Considering our lack of options up front, getting rid of Scamacca this summer would be a baffling move. It would mean that Moyes would just have to get another striker in – or perhaps not…

I reckon that the Scot might just be preparing a move to promote Mubama to the senior team. The 18-year-old has proven what he has to offer at the very highest level, and Scamacca’s exit could end up being just what the teenager needs to really take the next step in his career.
