The fact West Ham didn’t sell 23-year-old with zero minutes this season in the summer transfer window is utterly baffling

West Ham United enjoyed a really successful summer transfer window on the whole, that goes without syaing.

David Moyes brought four top-class players to West Ham in the summer transfer window – Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Mohammed Kudus.

West Ham should have sold 23-year-old in the summer transfer window

Conor Coventry managed to remain at the London Stadium in the summer…somehow.

Moyes actually admitted earlier this year that the midfielder has had plenty of chances to leave West Ham.

However, the Scot should have forced him out rather than giving him the option to stay. He clearly had the chance to do so (Irish Post).

Coventry hasn’t played a single minute for the senior side this season and is blocking the path to the first-team for one of our exceptionally talented youngsters – George Earthy.

The fact that he hasn’t played once this term is evidence that Moyes doesn’t think he’s good enough.

Hammers missed out by not selling Coventry

He is clearly not good enough to be playing at the very highest level.

It’s incredibly annoying that Moyes didn’t sell him in the summer. He will be out of contract in eight month’s time now, so we will probably lose him on a free transfer.

I my opinion, Moyes must try to sell Coventry in the January transfer window, or at the very least, release him next summer. 19-year-old George Earthy is on another level to the 23-year-old in my opinion.

Coventry is using up a squad space at West Ham – one that he is just not worthy of, as harsh as that may sound.

And it still baffles me that Moyes didn’t move him on from the London Stadium when he had the chance to do so in the summer transfer window.
