Pablo Fornals surely sealed his exit from West Ham United with a woeful performance against Olympiacos in the Europa league last night.

West Ham lost 2-1 to Olympiacos in Europa League Group A, after David Moyes made a whole host of changes to his team, with the likes of Pablo Fornals coming into the side.

The 27-year-old is out of contract with the Hammers in the summer, and the club will allegedly try to sell him in the January transfer window.

It’s easy to see why West Ham want rid of the Spaniard if last night’s performance is anything to go by – he was shocking in every sense.

Now, I don’t really blame Pablo. He has been given just 397 minutes of action in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), and it’s clear that Moyes doesn’t trust him any more.

So it’s nigh on impossible for Pablo to be motivated and to have any kind of rhythm to his game. I actually expected last night’s shocking display, and that just can’t be happening at the very highest level…

£22 million man surely sealed West Ham exit with Europa League display vs Olympiacos

Signed from Villarreal for £22 million in the summer of 2019 (talkSPORT), the Spaniard instantly endeared himself to the London Stadium faithful.

His passion and love for the club went a long way to him establishing himself as somewhat of a cult hero in the East End.

From the start of the 2020/21 season, he was one of the first names on Moyes’s team-sheet for two years. However, things took a sour turn around a year ago, and he has played second fiddle over the past 12 months.

The Spaniard’s performance last night summed up his past year with West Ham – nowhere near good enough.

He failed to make a single key pass or complete a dribble, and recorded a really poor completion rate of just 72.4% from 29 attempted passes (Who Scored).

The 27-year-old just looked like he was well off the pace in every sense, both defensively and inside the final third.

Pablo Fornals won’t be a Hammers player next season, I’m fairly sure of that. In fact, I’ll be surprised if he’s still at West Ham when the January transfer window closes after his performance last night against Olympiacos in the Europa League.
