Amazingly, it has been claimed that West Ham United are in prime position to sign Manuel Locatelli from Juventus in the January transfer window.

A shock report from Calcio Mercato claims that West Ham need to be ‘watched our for in particular’ when it comes to Manuel Locatelli.

The 25-year-old Juventus midfielder is apparently available for just €40 million (£35 million), and Hammers boss David Moyes is very keen on signing him.

The Scot has already considerably strengthened his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium, with the recent additions of Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse.

However, it could be argued that we’re still rather light in the defensive midfield department. If Alvarez suffers an injury or receives a suspension, we haven’t got a like for like replacement for him.

And it seems as though Moyes has someone specific – and incredibly exciting – in mind for the job…

‘Watch our for in particular’: Shock Manuel Locatelli to West Ham claim made

Calcio Mercato are claiming that the Hammers are the club who are showing most interest in signing the 26-capped Italy international from Juventus this winter.

What a sensational addition Locatelli would be to Moyes’s ranks – let’s just hope that there is some truth to the rumour.

The Italian is an incredibly talented technician. He has unbelievable ability on the football but he is also physically robust and ideally suited to Premier League football, what with his powerful 6ft 1in frame.

The 25-year-old may well be the final piece of the jigsaw for the Hammers in the middle of the park.

There was a time not too long ago when West Ham signing players like Manuel Locatelli would have been totally impossible. However, that’s all changed now – just look at the recent acquisitions of Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus.

Put it this way, I wouldn’t be completely shocked if we signed the Juventus star. However, it would still be a surprise move from West Ham, and would undoubtedly send shockwaves around the Premier League.
