West Ham boss David Moyes has made an admission about Kalvin Phillips after the midfielder joined Manchester City.
Phillips was chased by the Hammers during the January transfer window but ended up staying at Leeds.

The 26-year-old England international eventually joined Manchester City in the summer for around £45 million (The Daily Mail).
Phillips will undoubtedly be a fine addition for Man City and Hammers boss Moyes will be gutted that he didn’t win the race for the midfielder’s signature.
Especially considering the fact that The Guardian claimed back in January that West Ham had a £50 million bid for the midfielder knocked back.
And it seems as though that report was spot on…
David Moyes makes Kalvin Phillips admission
The Scot has opened up about missing out on the now Manchester City midfielder back in January.
When discussing his transfer business at West Ham during a wide-ranging interview with The Daily Mail, Moyes disappointedly admitted that the Hammers had offered more money to Leeds for Phillips than Manchester City eventually signed him for:
“We bid more than that. We’re trying to be competitive with the big teams. If we can’t, we have to find another way of keeping up with them.”
What a shame eh!
Phillips would have been superb for West Ham lined up alongside Declan Rice in the heart of our midfield.
The 26-year-old will be a big hit with Manchester City and the Hammers fans will undoubtedly be looking on enviously.
The one good thing though is that the David Moyes admission on Kalvin Phillips is evidence that the West Ham owners are genuinely ready to back the manager.
Hopefully the Hammers make another couple of big-money signings this summer after the arrivals of Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola and Flynn Downes.
