West Ham United are allegedly still harbouring hopes of signing talented Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

That’s according to a report from The Telegraph who claim that the Hammers remain interested in Phillips after a failed January swoop for the Leeds star.

West Ham have a very big problem though…Manchester City are keen on signing the 26-year-old Leeds ace as well (The Telegraph).

Phillips would be a truly sensational addition for West Ham. Pairing him up with his England international teammate Declan Rice in the middle of the park would put us in a really strong position next season.

Kalvin Phillips still wanted by West Ham

The Telegraph reckon that the 23-capped England international is still very much on the Hammers’ radar.

We think that the Leeds ace would be a truly brilliant signing for West Ham.

Phillips could cost around £50 million this summer (The Express). That sounds like an awful lot of money but if West Ham are to make some real progress, these are the kind of signings that we need to be making.

The 26-year-old Whites midfielder is one of the very best in the Premier League in his specific role.

His defensive solidarity and exceptional range of passing would surely take the Hammers to a whole new level entirely.

He is a tough-tackling, tenacious central midfielder and would be the ideal man to slot in the middle of the park alongside Declan Rice. Phillips is very good friends with Dec as well.

The Leeds ace coming into the West Ham team would then allow Tomas Soucek to get forward more and do what he does best.

It would be a huge shock if West Ham did sign Kalvin Phillips for £50 million this summer. And Manchester City’s alleged interest in the Leeds ace will obviously be a big problem for us.

As mentioned earlier though, if the Hammers owners and Moyes have real ambition of pushing on, then Phillips is the kind of player we need to be signing.
