‘That clips shows it’: Joe Cole spots proof of incredible West Ham team spirit

Joe Cole praised West Ham for their incredible team spirit last night after we drew 2-2 with Genk in our Europa League Group H clash.

The Hammers earned a hard-fought point in Belgium last night.

And now David Moyes’s men need just one point from our games against Dinamo Zagreb at the London Stadium and away to Rapid Vienna in order to win Group H.

That would see us qualify for the knockout stages of the competition at the first time of asking. A really impressive achievement.

Since David Moyes returned as manager of West Ham back in December 2019, much of our success has been down to the incredible team spirit that has been garnered by the Scot.

The West Ham bench was up celebrating after Said Benrahma scored the goal that got us back in the game.

The Algerian went on to score again but it was his first goal that got the Hammers substitutes up and celebrating:

The West Ham substitutes can be seen celebrating with Benrahma from 28 seconds in.

And Cole commented on the Hammers bench celebrating with Benrahma, when speaking on BT Sport last night (Thursday November 4th, 19:48):

“That clip there shows the team spirit they have at West Ham.”

Moyes has done a lot of great things since returning to the London Stadium.

Galvanising this group of players from the brink of relegation into a genuine top six Premier League team who can compete in Europe is arguably his greatest feat, however.

It’s Liverpool at home up next for West Ham.

And that will be the acid test of how far we’ve actually come.
