The Algeria international produced the goods for the Hammers on the continent last night.

And in doing so, he equalled a record that has stood for 45 years.

Benrahma became the first West Ham player to score two goals against European opponents away from home.

Billy Jennings scored a brace for the Hammers against Den Haag in 1976.

The next West Ham player after that to score two or more goals in one game was David Cross against Castilla in October 1980. Those goals came at Upton Park, however.

Benrahma’s brace last night was the first time a West Ham player has scored more than one goal in Europe away from home for over 45 years!

Sure, we haven’t played on the contingent regularly, but it’s still impressive that Benrahma has done something that no West Ham player has done since 1976!

The former Brentford man’s exploits yesterday vs Genk was the difference between comfortably winning our group and still having a lot to do.

It feels like the 26-year-old has finally made a big statement for the Hammers.
