‘New Mark Noble’: David Moyes says one new signing has settled in incredibly well at West Ham

David Moyes has absolutely raved about West Ham United new-boy James Ward-Prowse.

West Ham manager David Moyes brought James Ward-Prowse to the London Stadium from Southampton for £30 million in the summer transfer window.

And that fee is already looking like an absolute bargain deal for the Hammers, especially taking into account the inflated state of the current transfer market.

He bagged two more assists last night, taking his goal contribution tally to seven for West Ham so far this season, and another summer signing Mohammed Kudus absolutely raved about him after yesterday’s win.

Ward-Prowse already has two goals and five assists to his name for the Hammers in just five games.

And when speaking to reporters this afternoon, Moyes highlighted how West Ham’s ‘new Mark Noble’ has hit the ground running at the London Stadium, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“James Ward-Prowse has also settled in incredibly well. I probably felt that he had the best chance of settling in quickly because of his Premier League experience. He captained Southampton for a long time and has been involved in England squads too, so I did expect him to settle in quicker. We wanted to see if he could give us goals and assists, and he’s certainly done that. He’s started well for us and settled in great. He’s a bit of a Mark Noble-type player for us in terms of what he brings to the team and, as everybody knows, his deliveries are very effective.”

Ward-Prowse has definitely made us a more potent threat with his pin-point deliveries from dead-ball situations.

However, he’s so much more than just a set-piece merchant. The 28-year-old is incredibly gifted from a technical perspective and he makes us tick in the middle of the park.

David Moyes deserves huge credit for transforming West Ham into a better all-around team after Declan Rice left to join Arsenal in the summer.

Ward-Prowse has played a key role in our fine start to the 2023/24 season, and long may that continue.

We’ll certainly need him to be on his very best form on Sunday, if we are to get anything from the game at Liverpool. And with the former Southampton man in the team, you always feel like we’re capable of getting a result.
